July 26, 2019: Our book club started in a speakeasy when we went barhopping with our coworkers. We were talking about something, and for some unknown reason we segued into talking about our favorite authors and book genres. I suggested that we start a book club together, and to my surprise he agreed.
I was still surprised when he came to my desk the next Monday, because I wasn't sure if he was just kidding about starting this book club together. But right then and there, we decided on our first book—Blink by Malcolm Gladwell. When we were grabbing brunch after a seminar in Arizona, he told me about a coffee shop that I would probably like and suggested we go to Monterey and Carmel-by-the-Sea.
August 31, 2019 marks the day of our first Book Club Adventures (BCA).
Since then, we read at least one book per month, but the book club turned into more of a Bay Area explorations and Bay Area restaurant discoveries with a little bit of book discussion. Hence the name Book Club Adventures.
I didn't want this post to be a reflecting on 2019 post, but I think starting this book club was one of the best decisions I made last year...I think.
